Despite a sticky pitch from the recent downpours at Woodhall Park, Stanningley were quickly into their stride, dominating the midfield with some smart interplay between Cullen, Noonan and Jack which proved too much for the newly-formed Scorpions side to handle.

The pressure on Scholemore's goal eventually paid off with Cullen scoring a first half hat-trick. Albion relaxed a little too much though and gifted a goal back to the opposition after some poor defending.

More clever two-touch passing after the break saw the Reds extend their advantage with debutant Blackburn heading in from close range.

Jack made it five when he poked a shot home from just inside the box before Scholemore pulled another goal back, with poor defending to blame again.

Stanningley finished off the game in style though, with Hardaker turning and firing a shot into the back of the net.

Manager Dave Noonan said: "It was a deserved victory, we played the ball around very well in patches and overall it was a very solid performance.

"Credit also to Scholemore, who played some good stuff at times."

With tougher challenges to come, they showed that with a strong team ethic, they will be very hard to beat as the season progresses.
