Willie Mullins confirmed ante-post favourite Ivan Grozny firmly on course for the Betfred Ebor at York on Saturday week.

The talented dual-purpose performer bolted up at Aintree’s Grand National meeting in the spring before landing a Grade Three hurdle at Tipperary at the start of July.

He reverted to the Flat at the Galway Festival three weeks later and was just as impressive.

Mullins said: “Ivan Grozny is definitely coming (to York) and seems in good form after his recent run in Galway.”

Ireland’s champion jumps trainer could also saddle the veteran Simenon in the prestigious handicap.

Following a disappointing run of form, the nine-year-old has won his last two starts over hurdles at Cork.

Mullins said: “He has a nice weight, so we will see nearer the day whether he will take part or not.”
