The January transfer window is open and the Whites are being linked with several possible additions.

Leeds United have been linked with a Switzerland international and a Premier League forward as the January transfer window opens for business.

Whites manager Jesse Marsch remained tight-lipped on transfer speculation in the aftermath of Saturday’s goalless draw at Newcastle by stating he would not discuss links with RB Salzburg captain Maximilian Wober after speculation the Austria international was set for a move to Elland Road.

There have been links with several other players as Marsch looks to strengthen his ranks to help the Whites embark on a more positive second half to the Premier League season and eliminate any thoughts of a second consecutive battle against relegation.

Sky Germany have also reported Leeds are ‘vying to sign’ FC Luzern star Ardon Jashari, a holding midfielder that broke into Switzerland’s World Cup Finals squad after making his senior international debut in September.

The report suggests Bundesliga duo RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are ‘the hottest contenders’ to secure a January deal for the 20-year-old but also states Leeds, Napoli and Celtic are ‘vying for the central midfielder’s services’.

There is also a surprise link with Southampton striker Che Adams, who The Guardian have suggested is ‘among the potential options’ as the Whites look to add more competition at the top end of the pitch. The Scotland international has scored eight goals in 18 appearances in all competitions, despite the Saints struggling to find form.

The Whites and Premier League rivals Everton were linked with the former Birmingham City and Sheffield United forward earlier this season but Southampton CEO Martin Semmens refuted any suggestions of interest.

He told a fans forum: “The fact that Everton are trying to take our striker on loan - it’s not real, it won’t happen, don’t worry about that. From our perspective, we are massively comfortable with everyone we bring in. Everybody’s here and we look forward to working with them.

“We will always do what is right. And if somebody leaves the club, we’ll do it for the right reasons. But I wouldn’t get too worried about an agent and Sky Sports and Twitter because most of those things aren’t true, as you probably see, because most of the players we’ve signed you’ve not heard of until we actually do it.”
