Pudsey Table Tennis Club ladies compete in Women's British League

Pudsey Table Tennis Club ladies Joanna Roberts and Sarah Noutch, along with Gillian Edwards, made the long trek to Bristol to compete in the Women's British League.

Leeds started with a hard fought 4-2 win over Woolwell ladies. Two more victories followed 6-0 and 4-2 over Staffordshire and St Andrews respectively with Joanna leading the way being unbeaten in her six singles.

The next day saw the Ladies maintain the pressure on leaders with Guernsey with a 4-2 victory over Southampton with Gillian winning both her singles and one each for Joanna and Sarah.

This set up the clash with Guernsey for the title with the ladies needing to win. A draw would give Guernsey the title. With the score at two all Sarah produced a composed performance to beat Kay Chivers in four ends.

With Leeds in front Gillian took the first leg against Dawn Morgan but Morgan responded with the second. Gillian took the third and edged to 9-7 in the fourth but Morgan responded to snatch the game in deuce.

The fifth end went to the Guernsey player so the ladies had to be content with second place and promotion to the first division.
In the Jacques shield defending champions Pudsey A won 5-0 over Victoria A.

Pudsey D lost 5-1 to Victoria B only Paul Noutch getting on the scoreboard. Pudsey E from lost 5-1 over Judean A with Adams gaining the solitary success.

Also Adams lost a hard fought match to Dave Heptonstall 11-9 in the fifth but saw an incredible first end finish 23-21in favour of the Judean player.

Sandra Rider recently travelled to the Veterans Western Master Table Tennis tournament in Hereford.

She won the Over 40s doubles with new partner Michele Cohen from Wiltshire.

It was the first tournament they had played together and they won the final against a very experienced pair who have achieved a European bronze medal previously.

They be playing together in the European Table Tennis Championships in Porec, Croatia in May and were delighted with the result of their first tournament.
