Pudsey St Lawrence CC U-13s narrowly failed to topple league leaders Spen Victoria at Tofts Road but had their chances to take all the points.
PSL openers Matt Beckett and James Doidge had to be watchful in the face of a very accurate Spen attack who gave Pudsey's batters little opportunity to score freely. Beckett retired on 30 and Doidge was unluckily run out on 25.

Pudsey's middle order fired though and James Conlon , Lewis Tams and Will Sharp pushed on to give Spen a challenging total of 108

The talented Spen openers started to make light work of their target and when both retired with Spen on 80 off 10 overs the game looked all but over.

Pudsey's determination saw them fight back though and accurate bowling from Josh Smith, Doidge and Conlon made Spen fight all way.

They needed 4 from the last over and although Pudsey put on the pressure with a fine over from Luke Kitson , Spen edged home with 2 balls to spare.

Great encouragement for Pudsey who came so close to taking Spens unbeaten run this season.
