A five figure crowd watched Stanningley win promotion to National Conference Division One with a tense 16-14 triumph over hosts Milford Marlins in a winner-takes-all derby.
A 14th successive victory saw Stanningley climb above Milford – by a single point – into the third and final promotion place, behind Normanton Knights and Millom.

Stanningley took an early eight-point lead through a Michael Holmes try and two Martin Wood goals before Milford hit back to go 10-8 up at the break, Danny Mitchell and Chris Smith crossing and Mark Watts landing a goal.

With Marlins scrum-half Ryan Oxtoby and second row Danny Mitchell the the sin bin, Wood crossed and added two more goals, before Matt Hayes grabbed Milford's third try – but Watts' conversion attempt, which could have sealed a draw and promotion, was off target and Stanningley hung on.
