For 10 years Pudsey's Shirley Armstrong built up her collection of dolls' prams and pushchairs.

With her husband, Edgar, she has lovingly restored many of the antique objects to their former glory.

But the 60-year-old has sent out a plea for the public's help after 15 of the distinctive items were stolen during a break-in at her lock-up garage on the outskirts of the town centre.

Mrs Armstrong said: "They are of great sentimental value – to have them back would be wonderful.

"I'd just ask people to keep an eye out, particularly when they are in places like antique shops or specialist toy stores."
Mrs Armstrong has been collecting the prams and pushchairs for about 10 years.

Some of the older parts of her collection date back as far as the 1930s.
Many had seen better days when they were first bought, but have been brought back to life by shop assistant Mrs Armstrong and her husband.

Most of the pieces are about half the size of a normal baby's pram.
Upsetting

"They look lovely, especially when you polish them up and put them on nice shelves like we have in the garage," said Mrs Armstrong.

"They were a real reminder of days gone by. It's terribly upsetting not to have them anymore."

Police are investigating the break-in, which took place at about 1pm on Tuesday, October 28.

Two sets of porcelain twin dolls were taken along with the pushchairs and prams – some of which were manufactured by famed Yorkshire firm Silver Cross.
