A Pudsey primary school has received a prestigious award for its outstanding work in bringing the world into the classroom.

Pupils at the school are developing skills to become global citizens in a rapidly changing world and have a strong partnership with a primary School in Bachpan, India.
The International School Award was started in 1999 to recognise the schools leading the way in installing a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.
Teacher Dave Manton, who is pictured receiving the award from Mr Alagiah, said: "It was a fantastic event to meet other schools also keen to prepare their students as global citizens ready for the challenges and rewards of living in the modern globalised world - and of course to learn about George Alagiah's own background, moving as he did from Sri Lanka, to Kenya and finally to his life in the UK. A real life inspiration spanning three continents."
Headteacher Janet Poynting said: "We are very proud that Southroyd has been awarded the International School Award. We have established an extremely successful partnership with our link school, Bachpan, in Gujarat.
"Our children now have many good friends in Bachpan and we were thrilled to meet four children in person when Sanjay Sir and Meena Ma'am made their annual visit to us in April this year.
"Our international work has brought many opportunities for exciting
learning for our childre.
"We feel sure that our children have a genuinely broad horizon through this work and they are well placed to become true global citizens of the 21st. Century.
"Our school is committed to the further developement of this partnership."
