Pudsey schoolchildren and Leeds City Council's Youth Service were given a say to help the council's Parks and Countryside Service select new play equipment.
The new areas were built using money from the Park's Renaissance Fund, which is a £3.7m spending programme to revitalise parks and green spaces across Leeds.

The play area is divided into two sections, one for toddlers and one for the junior area which contains items such as a large modular multi-play unit with tower slides and high walk ways.

A skate park area has been recently refurbished for the older children and there are facilities in the park to make is accessible to disabled children.

Councillor John Procter, executive board member for leisure, said: "Pudsey Park is one of the city's most popular family parks and were delighted that this funding has been made available.

"The new playground looks great and is a fantastic addition to the park."

Councillor Andrew Carter, leader of Leeds City Council, said: "This is another example of how the Parks Renaissance Fund is breathing life back into green spaces across the city.

"This play area is better equipped and fully accessible with something for everyone in the community.

"I welcome the recent news that the neighbourhood policing team will be keeping an eye on the area to make sure that families feel safe while using the new play equipment - the actions of a few should not prevent young people from enjoying this superb new investment."
