It was a challenging course that lead to a number of injuries however after two races the Pacers men lie 2nd in the 'all to count' with 5827 points and the ladies 3rd with 1245.

Karen Pickles won the ladies race with Mandy Bannister 24th and Sarah Turner 26th. Individual league tables are shaping up nicely for the Pacers with Karen Pickles leading the F35 category; Sarah Turner, Debra Day and Zoe Tebbutt 6th,7th and 8th in F40, Mandy Bannister 4th for F45 and Joy Good 3rd in F55.

For the men Paul Gaile is 2nd, John Marshall 5th and David Byrom 6th in M40; Jim Wheldon is running strongly sitting 2nd in the M55 category. Look out for more successes at Walton on May 31st.

Also a Pacer ladies day out at the East Hull 20 with Sharon Hague coming in first out of the four with a great time of 2.43:20. Next was Anne Gowing knocking 9 minutes of her PB with 3:04:53, closely followed by Carol Parkinson in 3:09:16 and Karen Thrippleton in 3:15:13 both recording Personal Bests.

Last weekend hosted the multi-terrain Arkendale 10k in North Yorkshire in which the Pudsey Pacers latest recruit; Darren Burnley came home with the silver medal, 2nd overall in 36:02. Dave Cooper continues his recovery from injury logging 46:55 with Jenny Cooper finishing strongly on the arduous course in 54:15.

Twelve Pacers ran the Epilepsy Action Bradford 10k; James Clark was first home for Pudsey securing 18th overall in 35:28. Next home was the rising star Ryan Turnbull in 36:04 a great run considering his sparse race history followed by the evergreen Jim Wheldon 4th in the M50 category, John Marshall in 39:42 and Pacer Vince Bussingham running for his first claim Eccleshill finishing in 40:20.

Susan Ransome led the ladies home and was 2nd F50 with 47:19 and Sarah Turner improved her PB with a run of 51:24. Also worth noting was Arthur James 2nd place M70.

Training nights are Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6.50pm in the Pudsey Leisure Centre bar.

There are runs for all abilities going out, so don't worry if you're not chomping at Paula Radcliffe's heels; the main thing is you won't be left behind.

And finally, the Pudsey 10K Challenge is due to take place on 26th July 2009; each year the Pudsey Pacers raise money for Marie Curie Cancer and are currently seeking sponsors from the local business community.
