Pudsey Pacers: Robert Samuels makes impressive comeback

After missing a full year with a serious knee injury, Robert Samuels made an immediate impression in his comeback race, the inaugural Kirklees 10k at Birstall.

Rob took 12th place with his 41:31, not far behind James Clark, who was 3rd overall in 38:21.

James also led the way for the Pacers at the Holmfirth 15-mile road race, recording 1 hour 42 minutes for this hilly course, with Nigel Craven well placed in the V50s when registering a 1:48 PB.

Also featuring strongly were Roy Bamford, home in 1:54, Dave Byrom (2:02); Don Stead (2:03); Steve Ellis (2:08) and Karen Thrippleton (2:22).

At the Withins Skyline Fell Race, Russell Stead recorded 56:55 to claim 36th place among the 200-strong field, with Jim Wheldon also a top fifty finisher in just over 58 minutes.

Martin Edwards is the latest club member to fly the flag at a big city international marathon, clocking a commendable 4:01:42 in Amsterdam.
