Don Stead: Pudsey Pacers runner new Yorkshire Veterans champion

Don Stead is the new MV70 Yorkshire Veterans champion after his impressive one hour 44 minute showing at the Bridlington Half Marathon.
Also claiming Vets honours were Ann Francis, 3rd FV40 in 1:37, and Jim Wheldon, 2nd MV55 in 1:26.

Dave Woodhead followed his excellent 64:39 time at the Scarborough 10 mile race, a performance that earned 5th place overall, with another fine run of 1:27 at Bridlington.

Nigel Craven's debut half-marathon yielded a promising 1:34, while Simon Beverley celebrated a 1 hour 39 minute personal best.

Pam Goldthorpe recorded 1:45, and there were strong efforts in the Vet 60 age group from Roy Bamford and Syd Lawton.

Representing the Pacers overseas were Paul Gaile, who registered a time of just over three hours at the Toronto Marathon, with Dave Burdon home in 3:25.

Among the 450 competitors at the Richmond Castle 10k race were Steve Wood, who finished 22nd overall in 40:03, and Karen Thrippleton, who clocked 57:17.
