Visitors to this year's Pudsey Carnival can take part in an unusual project – making their own dragonfly.
The Herbs and Dragonflies project aims to inspire children to take an interest in gardening and wildlife.

At the carnival on Saturday May 17, they will be able to plant a herb in a pot and make a model dragonfly, all for free.

The volunteers behind the project have won a grant of £782 to run the project.

The group will also set up a website with more craft and gardening ideas, recipes using herbs and more information about wildlife in the local area.

The project is designed and run by Kathy Marshall, 22, from Pudsey, who has been a passionate gardener since childhood.

Volunteers are still needed to help run the stall on carnival day, write articles for the website and publicise the event.

Anyone aged between 16 and 25 who would like to be involved is asked to email the group at HerbsAndDragonflies@yahoo.co.uk.
