Plans to build 925 houses in east Leeds submitted to the council
The proposed site, known as the East Leeds Extension Southern Quadrant, stretches along the west side of the new east Leeds orbital road, from Manston Lane, towards Leeds Road near Stanks.
According to the applicants, the site would include 925 houses, public green space and a 2.6 hectare community facility, expected to include a primary school, shop and “health provision”.

Hide AdIt follows the recent approval for the outline application for the “middle quadrant” of the scheme, in which 875 houses were approved in principle.
Overall, developers want to build more than 1,800 homes, a school and community hub on the linear site stretching from Manston Lane to York Road.
As the plans are at such an early stage, the size, design and the materials used to build the houses has not yet been decided.
However, the master plan states there will be segregated pedestrian walkways, cycle paths, areas of publicly accessible open space and links to nearby villages.

It also included a commitment to building 15 per cent affordable housing on the site, 60 per cent of which would be social rents.
It is also understood the developers plan to contribute towards off-site secondary school expansions – often necessary when such large housing schemes are built.
The overall site has been earmarked for housing by Leeds City Council in its 2019 site allocations plan.

Hide AdA covering letter from developers states: “The aim of this outline is to establish the master plan for the whole of the Southern Quadrant which defines the extent of all areas within the site including the boundaries of each residential parcel and the community hub but excludes the detail of housing inside each housing parcel and the community hub for subsequent Reserved Matters applications.
“While this outline application will establish the location of the Central Spine Road highway through the site, it will not include individual access points into each parcel.”
A decision is expected to be made on the plans in February 2022, while members of the public have until January 2022 to comment on the plans.Pa55word
