Teen drug dealer stole Briggate McDonald's manager's hat and was arrested with taser in Leeds city centre

Adam Barker had his custodial sentence extended after a court heard how he was arrested as he sold the class B drug in Harrogate.

Leeds Crown Court heard police officers saw the 19-year-old trying to conceal something as he was walking away from a car with another man at 7.45pm on December 4, 2019.

Chloe Hudson, prosecuting, said the officers approached him and noticed that he smelled strongly of cannabis.

The defendant was searched and found in possession of a bag of cannabis and a set of digital scales.

Barker's mobile phone rang constantly as he was being searched.

The device was taken from him but he refused to give officers his pin number.

The defendant gave a false name, telling officers he was called Frank Robinson, and claimed to be 17 years old.

Ms Hudson said Barker is currently serving a 14 month sentence in a young offender institution for offences of possession of an offensive weapon and affray committed in May and June 2019.

Barker was arrested and found in possession of the taser on May 23 after officers were called to reports of youths using the weapon on members of the public at random.

The affray offence took place on June 13 at the McDonald's restaurant on Briggate.
