Police warn drivers they will check cars at Leeds outdoor beauty hotspots following parking complaints

Officers from East Leeds said that whilst they encourage people to get out and keep fit within Covid restrictions, parking has been a problem at local green spaces or parks.

They said there have been complaints where cars parked at the hotspots have been obstructing local residents, and that they will be out today (Saturday) to check the local sites.

Police also urged people to hide any valuables left in cars, as one officer said they had been past cars where handbags and expensive coats had been left on the seats.

The East Leeds Neighbourhood Policing Team covers Whinmoor, parts of Cross Gates, Halton, Garforth, Swillington, Allerton Bywater, Kippax, Methley and Micklefield.

A post on the West Yorkshire Police Leeds East Facebook page said: "Good morning

"Whilst we encourage people to get out and keep fit within the COVID rules, may we ask that whilst you are out visiting your local green space/park that you please park your vehicles in a safe manner

"There has been some complaints recently where cars have been obstructing local residents close to these areas.

"We will be out and about today checking these local sites

"Also please hide any valuables, I have personally been past cars where hand bags and expensive coats have been left on the seats

"Many thanks."
