Police searching for woman who helped a rape victim she found in Harehills street

A man has been charged with rape and false imprisonment after a distressed woman was found in the street.

The victim was found in Back Harehills Place shortly before 8am on Wednesday, September 30.

A woman who was walking a child to school along Ashton Road saw the woman and went to her aid.

She gave her a coat to wear.

Police want to identify this woman as a potential witness and have released CCTV images of her.

She had dark hair and was wearing a black coat, grey and white patterned leggings and white trainers.

A 43-year-old man has appeared in court in relation to the incident.

He is charged with a number of offences including rape, false imprisonment, serious assault and coercive and controlling behaviour.

Proceedings are ongoing.
