Police find hidden weapons including rusty knife stashed in this Leeds park

A number of hidden weapons including a rusty knife have been found stashed in a park in Leeds.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Specialist Support Group searched Lovell Park, near the First Direct Arena.

A number of hidden weapons were found by the team, including a rusty kitchen knife, and taken to be destroyed.

The search was part of Operation Jemlock, a West Yorkshire Police crackdown on serious violent crime and knife crime.

Sharing a picture of the weapons on Twitter today, the Operation Jemlock team said: "Officers from our Specialist Support Group were engaged with a search in the Lovell Park area of Leeds when a number of hidden weapons (such as those pictured) were located by the team and taken for destruction.

"#TacklingNotTolerating #WeaponSweeps #LivesNotKnives."

There have now been more than 1,300 arrests as part of the operation which begun in April 2019.
