Children at Stanningley Primary School have been getting their hands dirty to help mark its silver jubilee.
Pupils helped to develop a new garden area by planting and weeding during the after school gardening club.

Local artist Alan Pergusey designed the garden from the children's ideas. He also made hand moulds and installed wooden star seats.

The garden was officially opened by local MP John Battle where he met children, parents and past and present staff.

A spokeswoman for the school said: "The celebration day was enjoyed by all.

"We had bouncy castles, parties, a cake, time capsules and a balloon release made the day memorable for everyone."

Stanningley Primary school was sited on Gladstone Terrace until 1983 when the new school opened on the present site.
