The cash was raised by the The Friends of Southroyd Primary and Nursery School over the last year.

Fundraising activities included discos, a quiz night, Red Nose day and various other events.

The money will help towards restoring the outdoor learning area by enlarging the pond, providing decking and seating, renewing the vegetable beds and the sensory garden.

Southroyd School has applied for the Local Food grant in the hope that a poly tunnel can be put in place and fruit bushes planted.

Children are looking forward to learning more about growing food crops.

The remaining £200 has supported the School in providing resources for two very successful 'Spirit Alive' mini-olympic days when every child took part in sports activities.
