A report, to be presented tomorrow, seeks approval to spend £746,750.

The bus station received planning permission in August, with the station to be developed on the existing site and car park at Market Place.

The new station will see the development of six stands, with two lanes long enough to hold the ftr concept bendy buses.

Coun Andrew Carter, deputy leader of the council said: "The redevelopment of the bus station will provide a fully modernised focal point in the town of Pudsey.

"The new bus station will help enhance journeys and improve transport links immensely which will hopefully encourage shoppers into the town centre. In particular, the relocation of the bus stops from Church Lane to the new bus station will greatly reduce congestion on the main road.

"The development will encourage people to use public transport as well as improve facilities for the people of Pudsey and the surrounding area.

"This is a great scheme and as an administration we are proud to be overseeing the delivery of this project."

The report seeks approval for a total expenditure of £746,750 – £615,000 for works and £131,750 staffing costs.

The scheme is to be developed in conjunction with Metro.
