The future of Pudsey Rotary Club is looking more secure - but more members are still urgently needed.
The outlook of the club, which has been in operation since 1952, was bleak because of a shortage of numbers.
But after crunch talks members decided that the club should continue and made a plea for more people to join them.
There are currently 21 members but that number is expected to decline.
President Ken Ineson said: "I am happy to say that we have found a resolution and the club will still be running but we really do need to get some extra members on board.
"I am very pleased that I will be the president again next year but you are only supposed to do it for one year.
"It would have been such a shame if the club had folded as we have been
in Pudsey for 56 years and have done an awful lot of good in the town.
"We would like as many people as possible to join us because we must
get some new members."
The club has managed to raise thousands of pounds to help bring fresh water to a Third World country by drilling new water boreholes.
Last year, members joined forces with Calverley Rotary Club to raise almost £7,500 towards creating two water boreholes in Dzebu and Kpota, in Ghana.
They raised the money through different fundraising activities such as wine tasting events, book sales and a sponsored abseil at Great Gable, a mountain in the Lake District.
Other projects include supplying and distributing Christmas lunches and they are also hoping to take children and carers from Milestone School to Flamingoland in June.
Rotary Clubs bring business and professional leaders together to
provide humanitarian services.
