PUPILS at a Pudsey school put their best foot forward and managed to hundreds of pounds for a children's charity.

Children from Pudsey Lowtown Primary raised £1306.64 for the NSPCC by taking part in a special fun run during the school's Health Week.

The money will be used by the NSPCC to train counsellors for a new calls centre in Leeds which is expected to be up and running by Christmas.

A spokeswoman for the school said: "Sarah Tarpey from the NSPCC was in the school to say thank you to the children for their fantastic fundraising.

"It was an amazing achievement that we raised so much money, especially for a school with less than 200 pupils.

"The children in reception and year six did particularly well with the highest involvement."
