'The Cradle of Yorkshire cricket' is once again in full swing after a Pudsey Congs opened its refurbished artificial practice area.
It was opened by local MP and lifelong cricket fan Paul Truswell who said Pudey Congs was known as the "Cradle of Yorkshire Cricket" and the club was one of those in the area that has secured that reputation.

"I am delighted that money has been made available by Green Leeds to restore this essential practice facility," he said.

"The club plays a major role in promoting the game locally, particularly among young people, and also makes a major contribution to local charities."

Ralph Middlebrook, Pudsey Congs' Chairman of Cricket, said: "The club are very grateful for the financial support and technical advice given so generously by Leeds City Council."

Green Leeds is an organisation set up to receive landfill tax from Leeds and allocate it to local projects.
