Leeds City Council is planning to spend £365,000 to repair Pudsey Town Hall's roof, windows and brickwork.

The wooden floors throughout the 130-year-old building will also be repaired and it is hoped that work should be completed by April 2010.

Coun Andrew Carter (Con, Calverley and Farsley) said: "Pudsey Town Hall is probably the town's most recognisable building and one of which the people of Pudsey are justifiably proud.

"Standing as it does in the centre of the town; the Town Hall is a landmark building and an important part of Pudsey's market town heritage.

"This work will improve its outward appearance through the repairs to the roof and brickwork.

"We will also be improving the interior by refurbishing the wooden floors and tackling issues with damp in the basement, ensuring that it remains a functioning part of Pudsey for years to come.

"Not only will these works breathe new life into the Town Hall, they will help to preserve it in all its glory."
