Pudsey voters bucked the national trend by re-electing Councillor Josie Jarosz to serve the community for another four years.
Coun Jarosz (Lab) defeated Conservative candidate Jason Aldiss by 310 votes, winning 2,530 votes to her challenger's 2,220 in the Leeds City Council elections.

Third place went to John Hirst (BNP) who won 857, ahead of Gregory Hall (Lib Dem) on 580 and Irene Dracup (Green Party) on 303.

A delighted Coun Jarosz said: "It is an endorsement for the people of Pudsey and demonstrates that they do not vote on national trends.

"I am always around Pudsey and it is important to have someone who will see a problem and rectify it.

"I think that the residents deserve that level of commitment."
