CHURCHGOERS in Pudsey welcomed two very special guests as part of Back to Church Sunday when the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Leeds, Coun Frank Robinson and Sheila Robinson, took part in the nationwide initiative at St James the Great Church in Woodhall.

The initiative by the Christian churches encourages people to renew contact with their local churches and the Mayor was presented during the service with a Back to Church Sunday balloon, pen and bar of fairtrade chocolate.

Parish Priest Fr Nicholas Clews said: "It has been wonderful to welcome two people in a very special capacity who are old friends to many of the congregation.

"Frank and Sheila are both parishioners and Sheila has long been a stalwart of the Wednesday morning congregation."
