Jason Wilcox scored on his full league debut after signing from Blackburn Rovers for £4 million in December 1999. But that goal against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light was a rare highlight for a winger whose opportunities proved limited and game time sporadic. He joined the Whites at a time a younger rival - Harry Kewell - stepped through the academy at Thorp Arch. During five years Wilcox played just 105 times yet demonstrated his vision and creative ability out wide when opportunities came and injuries subsided.
