Huddersfield architect beats Leeds NHS worker in West Yorkshire final of BBC Two’s Interior Design Masters

The West Yorkshire strong final episode of the eight-week design show aired on on Tuesday, March 23.
Siobhan Murphy from Castleford, and Lynsey Ford, from Slaithwaite, went head-to-head to redesign two holiday homes in Cornwall.

Hide AdThe show is judged by Michelle Ogundehin and presented by comedian Alan Carr, who joked during the show: “Well it’s a good day for Yorkshire, innit?”
The guest judges were designers Matthew Williamson and Sophie Robinson.
Siobhan, a Communication Manager for NHS digital, was joined by former contestant Paul Moneypenny to create a family friendly home.
Included in her design was a floor-to-ceiling gold leaf mural, black and white wallpaper and a “kid’s hideaway”.

Hide AdIn her design, the judges praised her fun designs, confident use of colour and gold leaf detailing.
However, the judges were unsure if the design had met the “family friendly” brief.
Lynsey, a former architect, bought back former Leeds PR consultant Amy Wilson to create a girls getaway.
In her design, she included statement parrot wallpaper, oversized chandeliers and a bespoke, hand-crafted wooden wall feature.

Hide AdShe was praised by the judges for her use of textures, colour choices, warmth and transforming the hallway into a luxurious dressing room.
Inviting all the former contestants back to look around the homes, Michelle announced that Lindsay had won the competition and the prize of a contract with a luxury hotel.
Speaking on the show, Lindsay said: “I’m in shock. Totally and utterly blown away.”
Siobhan added, “Always a bit of disappointing but I’m really chuffed for Lindsay, she’s done amazing through the whole competition and she pipped me to the first post at the end."

Hide AdLynsey, who was pregnant at the time of filming, gave birth in March.
She was a project manager for a construction company but revealed that she quit her job during filming to focus on her interior design career.
